#MyCoventryIndigo
2021 - ongoing

Since medieval times, Coventry has been famous for its colour Blue. Used for dyeing cloth in the wool trade, the colour was extracted from locally grown woad using the river Sherbourne to extract the dye pigment. Respecting the heritage of our city’s famous colour, I wanted to experiment at creating my own blue. In 2021, I successfully grew from seed, my own indigo plants here in Coventry! I went through a complete cycle of germinating seed, growing and tending the plants, to harvesting and then finally extracting the glorious blue from the sediment to create #MyCoventryIndigo pigment.
